Very few companies can claim a Century long existence, however, Royal Haeger Lamp Company's roots date back to 1871. For it was in 1871 that company president and CEO, Nicholas H. Estes' great-grandfather David H. Haeger founded the company that bore his name. Nicholas' grandfather Edmund H. Haeger assumed the leadership of the Dundee, IL factory and began the production of Art pottery in 1914. And it was Nicholas' father, Mr. Joseph F. Estes, named general manager in 1938 and president in 1954, who was credited with much of the company's growth during his reign through aggressive expansion and diversification programs. One of those programs included the introduction of the Royal Haeger line of lamp bases in 1939. The original lamp line was one of the most respected in the industry as a result of its superior quality and innovative designs.

The second plant opened in Macomb, IL in 1969 and dedicated its complete production to the manufacture of lamp bases and shades. Heading that effort was the, then newly named general manager of the Royal Haeger Lamp Company, Macomb division, Mr. Nicholas Estes.

Nearly ten years ago the lamp company split from the pottery one and today, Nicholas' son, David Estes represents the fifth generation to be associated with the company. David Estes ensures that while the company still clings to its roots and tradition of quality craftsmanship, executives at Royal Haeger Lamp Company embrace the new technologies associated with the 21st Century in an effort to better serve its customers.
